Some days, you want to watch a feel-good movie. Say, Forrest Gump or likewise. There's a reason these movies are so popular: they all have happy endings. There's a clear protanogist and antanogist. Everyone knows who to root for, to hope for the best.
But these movies bring about an exaggerated sense of expectation. You want to always be the winner, to always win. You start to believe that in the end, you'll always get the girl or guy you want.
What everyone seems to forget is that there's a lot of work involved for those truly happy endings. Many failed attempts, many grey hairs. You might have a child or two. You might never meet that special someone. It's so frustrating to meet someone who's almost that special person... yet isn't. You break up and are hurt. You hurt each other, hoping to get even.
The war goes on and on. Pain is inflicted. Suffering happens. Bystanders get involved, and suddenly it takes on a whole new life of its own.
So where's that happy ending? The little disney feel good ending where you get the girl, have kids. Yay you!
Sometimes.. we have to accept God, or whatever diety you choose to believe in just has other plans for you. They're not required to make you happy. Only you can make yourself happy, with your own actions and a little bit of luck.
Although now that I think of it...
I should definitely never play the lottery.
