    • Lost Lands Part 2 Warrior Class Spoilers

Greetings, players of Shadow Era. It's Gondorian here, Shadow Era TCG Head Designer, and I'm very pleased to welcome you to a new spoiler series for Lost Lands part 2, which will be focusing on each of our seven classes in turn, starting with seven new cards for Warriors.

I would love to write more of an introduction, but I know you'll want to just skip to the spoilers, so I'll just list them right here in text form and then conduct the rest of the article afterwards.

War Cry - 2cc Warrior Support Ability - Duration 3. When your hero deals combat damage on your turn, draw a card.

Battle Charge - 2cc Warrior Support Ability - Duration 3. 0: Your hero takes 1 damage, and your weapons have +2 attack while in combat with allies until the end of the turn.

Flurry of Blows - 2cc Warrior Ability - Up to 3 different target allies take 1 damage (or 2 damage if you control a weapon or armor).

Braxnorian Weaponsmith - 3cc Warrior Ally - 2sword/4HP - When Braxnorian Weaponsmith is summoned, you may seek a weapon with cost 4 or less.

Yari Plunderer - 4cc Warrior Ally - Yari - 3sword/5HP - When Yari Plunderer is summoned while you don't control a weapon, target weapon in a graveyard is returned to play under your control with 1 durability.

War Giant - 6cc Warrior Ally - 3sword/8HP - All combat damage to War Giant is reduced by 1. While War Giant is attacking, opposing allies have defender. When War Giant deals combat damage to an ally, that ally is exiled.

Hopefully you can notice a strong theme there, which fits with your existing perception of what the Warrior class is all about. At the same time, I hope you can see each card adds something beyond what they already have access to without straying too far. Be sure to share your thoughts below after you've finished reading!

But what about the seventh card? Well, as with all the new cards, we keep the needs of each hero in mind when designing, and we decided to devote one card slot to one hero particular. Can you guess who the following card is intended to help?

Chaos Engine - 2cc Warrior Artifact - When an item or support ability is targeted and destroyed on your turn, your hero gains +1 shadow energy and you draw a card.

As an added bonus, this should boost the Ravager alignment with any Shadow Warrior, but we expect Ter Adun to get the most value from this in the same way that Jericho was boosted by Lingering Essence.

If you're still reading now with those seven upcoming cards revealed, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience since Lost Lands Part 1 was released, while you have been waiting for news of what would be coming in Part 2. This is the main reason that we are doing spoilers now, while the cards are still being tested and before they have artwork, so everyone can get them as soon as possible. The other reason for revealing now is to offer a better opportunity for you to get involved with shaping their final form - whether that be through your discussion of their expected gameplay impact or perhaps suggestions for artwork (which could even be your own!).

Another important thing I'd like to do is confirm some numbers for Part 2:
      - Each class will be getting 7 of their new class-specific cards in Part 2 (with 3 more in Part 3).
      - With Part 2 being 67 cards like Part 1, you can expect the other 18 cards in Part 2 to be faction-specific or neutral cards, including new weapons and armors.

In terms of when these cards will be released on the live server, I can't give an answer at this time, because our main focus within the Design Team is currently delivering the Campaign mode, but if anyone is really keen to play with them, we will be opening the doors to the PFG again when this spoiler series is complete.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you next time, where we will have the Hunters in our sights!

Gravebone joke aside I agree with this. Despite what's being intented Chaos Engine won't help Ter Adun as much as Logan and likely Vess. Ter doesnt need draw. His ability is overcosted in the game now and the rest of the Warriors have access to item hate as well so he's shorthanded compare to them. What he needs is board control tool that works with his ability.

(I don't count disable attachments as I expect people to have way to deal with this). where do I sign to pfg and break this guy?
You mentioned Gwen specifically. Also, Shadow Hunters can use TPS.

As for breaking this guy, I'm sure you would be a great addition to the PFG when we re-open the doors, so make sure you apply when we're looking for people. Thanks!

Well I mentioned Gwen as she can deal most damage in one turn with weapon (ok, maybe rothem with berserker edge and ability can do 9, but that's not going to happen in T6-7). What I am trying to say is that this guy is now best 6cc warrior drop (except for Viska vs solo hero) and the combination of damage reduction, huge body and ally exiling seems too strong. Maybe compared to other things coming up this might be mediocre

Shouldn't the 6cc Warrior ally be the best 6cc ally that Warriors can use? It's debatable whether this is the case, but I don't see it as a problem if War Giant is their best choice of 6cc ally.

        I love the new cards!

However, I take issue with this statement:

"As an added bonus, this should boost the Ravager alignment with any Shadow Warrior, but we expect Ter Adun to get the most value from this in the same way that Jericho was boosted by Lingering Essence."

While Essence did help Jericho tremendously, it was Embers of the Just that gave him an archetype that was playable. Then you nerfed Embers, and now POOF, no Jeri. Essence was only good for Jeri so long as he has something worth destroying. How about we don't make the same mistake with this one, eh?

I appreciate you don't have access to the stats to confirm, but actually Jericho is still played our target amount at 250+ rating (approx 1/32 of all heroes are Jericho) and his win-rate is quite close to 50%.

Having said that, I am open to potentially reverting Embers back to what it was before now that we have the possibility of chess clocks and automated tournaments with time limits and 50-card minimum on the horizon. He was definitely a problem before with the pre-nerf Embers, but maybe he would be OK with that Embers in the new environment. Watch this space but also don't hold your breath!

You know, somewhere between absolute nerf and obnoxiously too strong, the truth might lie. Perhaps don't "put it back to the way it was" and instead, since you know that's too strong, tweak it and do something like make it go back to the deck instead of the hand. Or, don't; you're the designer.

My point is that a great card was made that created an entirely powerful archetype, and then that one card (Lingering Essence) was made fairly obsolete, considering the one card that was worth destroying with Jeri's ability got nerfed to the point of being irrelevant.

        This.

When Ter's ability was set in stone, years ago, it was overcosted. Now that item hate is everywhere, it's WAY obsolete.

I hope to institute Deck Size Limits.
Moonstalker and Skervox hinder the duels as entertainment .

With the numerous ways of removing huge fatties in the game, I doubt it.

Braxnorian weaponsmith looks like the next auto-include for amber decks. Play on turn 3, and you are always assured of a 4-cost weapon to play on turn 4.

This might even enable new deck archetypes which run 1-2 copies of a variety of weapons, and rely on weaponsmith to seek out the best weapon in response to a particular deck or situation.

Looks like the first few turns of any match are going to look mighty standardised.

I can't say I like this move towards removing chance and randomness from the game.

Weaponsmith is op. It's better than cantrip and comes with average 3cc body. Didn't we think old extractor was op with same 2/4 stats and normal cantrip? This one is way better.

Either that or retcon his ability to make it cost 3SE, or give us an ally that allows us to recover SE whenever we destroy an item, or something. Ter Adun is pretty much the only hero that I can think of that has an Ability that is better off going into items like Rothem's Visage or Punisher's Gauntlets, save for Rothem himself (and even then he can still use his ability in more ways than Ter).

Once again I state, we all think so. Nobody could break it though. What you see one this forum is out failed attempts to prove he's OP. Without in-game stats to back up the claim to power, he's coming to live servers in all his OP glory. Let us see how long it takes for somebody to actually break him.

In my opinion, war giant seems op because it has standard status as a 6cc ally with the ridiculously strong effect. Assume there is no other factors than combat, war giant overwhelms other 6cc shadow ally. It has the effect of gargoyle, which is 1 status point less than standard 3cc ally, and can easily determinate non-steadfast ally. If you let it combat with all other 6cc allies, it will win for sure. Time will tell it status will be nerfed. I would say nerf it to 2 attack/ 5 health
