      Call for Artists

Shadow Era is very community based; running card contests, having players join our design team, and even getting a new artist from our forums! Shattered Fates is close to being finalized and work has even started on the next set! We’re turning to the community to find some new digital artists whose work suits Shadow Era. Do you have what it takes to achieve eternal fame and glory in digital and print? Interested artists can email art@wulven.com with a sample of their work.

      Internet Relay Chat (IRC)
As we rev up for the World Championships now is a great time to get acquainted with IRC. It lets you chat with Shadow Era in a chat room while playing a game. This is great for playing or watching tournament matches or finding matches to test new decks. It’s been a intimating for the causal player to navigate but Veles has a great IRC guide on Shadow Era.net that walks you through all the steps – with pictures too! Even I figured out how to run in on my phone. Join the Shadow Era chat room and say hi!

      Campaign Encounters Contest
We've been busy behind the scenes getting the highly anticipated Campaign Mode ready! Through campaigns, we will tell the stories of how each hero earned their shadow crystal and became the fighters we know them as today. It will also explain the details of the very start of the war. We'd like to give the community the opportunity to contribute to this exciting addition to Shadow Era. We have the basic story of each hero and their main battles, but there are also a lot of other side battles that our heroes will need to go through on their way to dominating Balor. Will Victor need to take on a boss Fire Snake? What happens when Eladwen Frostmare is surrounded by a pack of Wulven? We want to hear your ideas for these side battles! The Campaign Encounter contest is open until November 1st.

      Cleveland Players
Every Sunday players are gathering at Dicehead Games in Cleveland. It’s been a great meeting place for both digital and physical players with open gameplay, demos, and debates about strategy. Our local Champion, Chevy, even went to Cleveland Geekster to show off the game in the Dicehead Games booth this month. Read more about this growing community in Dicehead’s Wulven Spotlight article.

      Extra Life Events
Need a legit excuse to play video and tabletop games for 24 hours? Join Extra Life for a 24 hour gaming marathon on October 25th to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals! Those in the New Jersey area, can join Team Annabelle at All Things Fun for Shadow Era demos, a Meltdown tournament, and sweet prizes. This post had me grinding my gears, something this forum does often. After I read this I had to respond. This conversation came up many a time while playing MTG years ago. The third post named a common card that destroys all allies and the person wondered why it was so poweful for a common card. I laughed because I had a similar question about a card in MTG called Jokulhops which didn't just destroy your summons it destroyed everything including mana. It made people rage quit. I believe it was banned from tourneys as well. The point is it was an uncommon card when released and yet a card named Wrath of god that destroyed only creatures was a rare. I am still confused on what truly card rarity actually means. If it has to do with power then most CCGs have it bass ackwards. It has to come down to the amount of the actual card released. Example... Black lotus MTG and Shadow Era Colussus which I try to get every day to no avail. What do you guys think? -cheers

The rarity of a card determines how frequently it appears in booster packs, and thus it's price. It doesn't always have to do with power. Certainly nobody would claim that the Scourge Colossus in Shadow Era is overpowered, yet it is a very expensive card! But as a general rule of thumb, yes, more powerful cards are generally found as rare or above. We just work very hard to ensure that the balance is just right and that the game doesn't turn into pay-to-win. ‏
