I am pleased to announce that the Shadow Era Design Team will be hosting a card contest for a card in an upcoming release!
What you need to know:
We are going to provide a blank card image that we want you to use to spur your creativity. Feel free to let your imagination roam in any direction that you would like to see the game take.
Timetable:
A contest winner will be decided at the end of the month, and announced shortly afterwards.
Restrictions:
You may comment on this article or post in the original forum thread as many ideas and posts as you would like. However, you may not seek out Design Team members for guidance on your card ideas before you post them. This is to keep the competition fair to all players and posters involved.
What is needed in a suggestion:
Name: A creative (but short) card name
Casting Cost: How much to cost the card
Card Type: What type of card it is, eg "Human Ally" or "Shadow Ally"
Effect: Describe the effect
Stats: Attack and Health for ally cards
Flavor Text: "Icing on the cake."
Bonus points for describing why you think this card would be a good addition to Shadow Era
Prize:
Eternal fame and glory goes to the best entry, plus 4 digital copies of your card.
DISCLAIMER: The winning card will be one that the Design Team deems to be the best and most fitting entry. That entry may be tweaked or adjusted to fill the needs of the release, or for balance reasons.
Name: Electrobite
CC: 2
Card Type: Elemental ability - attachment
Effect: While Electobite is attached to target friendly ally, each time it kills an opposing ally that ally is removed from the game.
Flavor Text: "A bite worse than its bark"
Effects: When Dead Giveaway is summoned you may choose to sacrifice Dead Giveaway to kill opposing ally at the cost of X Shadow Energy, X equals opposing allies casting cost.
Dead Giveaway will not except and attachments.
Sacrifice Dead Giveaway pay 6 resource to remove up to 3 allies with cost of 2 or less from graveyard into play. These allies cannot use any abilities until the start of your next turn.
Stats: 3 attack, 5 health
Flavor text: "We ate ribs with the dude, and we didn't have a clue!"
Name: Agrahim the Brother
Casting Cost: 5
Card Type: Human ally - Twilight
Effect: When summoned you can choose to destroy target artifact or support, but Agrahim will lose 2 health and gain +1 attack.
Stats: 3 attack, 6 health
Flavor Text: "When there's twilight, there's no place for darkness and light."
I think humans needs more possibilities to destroy enemy artifacts, in CoC there was none (excluded class skills).
Maybe it's strange, but I like Twilight Tribe Herald and I'm looking forward for more Twilight Allies.
Name: Relentless Scavenger
Casting cost: 2cc
Card type: shadow ally
Effect: Opponent loses one resource for every turn scavenger is in play, starting at the end of your next turn
Stats: 1 attack, 2 health
Flavour text: Even the swords in their hands and the gold in their pockets was consumed
Special note: card is unique
This card gives shadow the ability to more effectively play a resource denial deck, which right now is only (semi?) variable for baduruu. It's cheaper than HBM, but it doesn't cantrip, and is conditional. On the other hand it's low casting cost means it is a good tech card against top heavy decks, especially with fta. It can be countered because it has to survive a turn, but can create a strong effect if not countered fast. Unique because having more than in play would be ridiculous.
Name: Wolvereign
Casting Cost: 5
Card Type: Shadow ally - Wulven
Effect: When in play, Gives the hero +1 attack from weapons and reduces all damage done to hero by 1 (Up to a maximum of 1). Each time it kills an ally, hero heals 2 damage.
Stats: 3 attack, 5 health or 2 attack, 6 health.
Flavour text: The loyal live and die by the master.
This card would work because as of yet nothing for wulven exists where the "minions" (allies) heal the hero. After all it is wolfpack mentality and not many relating powerful cards have come for it.
Unique
Casting Cost: 4
Card Type: Shadow Ally
Stats: 3 Attack, 2 Health
Effect: Can attack even from the graveyard but will only deal 1 damage
Flavour Text: Death is just a door
It would be cool for cards to have a role not only in play, but even in the graveyard, & in the future hopefully in the hand & the resource pile!
Casting Cost: 1
Card Type: Shadow Ally
Stats: 3 attack, 1 health
Effect: Every time [CARD NAME] attacks, its controller loses 3 life.
There are currently very few 1-mana drops in SE, so I feel a 1-mana ally is needed.
The card is aimed at "all in" rush decks, that try to end the game early, or die trying. This is an deck strategy popular in other TCG, but hard to implement with the current SE card pool
Call of the Dead
Casting Cost:6
Card Type: Shadow abillity
Effectisscard top card from your library. Then sacriface an not exhausted, disabled or frozen ally with CC3 or greater you control and put another ally from your graveyard into play.
It seems that Dark Prophecies has many cards that focus on high-costing vs low-costing allies, and many of the former are associated with human (ascendent of the hero) and the latter shadow (ascendant of the horde). The shadow side needs more high-costing allies with potential combos. This would be very useful with new Mage cards that trigger effects with allies that return from graveyards. Also, elementals could use it with elementalis' ability for the potential of a big, fat, dog in their face.
I don't know how balanced this would be as a rare, casting cost and initial health or attack could be adjusted accordingly.
Call of the Dead
Casting Cost:6

Your "Effect: Discard the top card..." got transformed into a face.
Flavor text: Lost magics speak of terrible beast summoned from the shadows that could tear asunder any normal man.
Why: The ability to play an ally with a cost of shadow energy allows for players to use resources for other cards and abilities. Along with the player is not beholden to sacrificing for the first there turns to play the ally.
The card matches the image because the dark light coming from the ground makes it seem as though it was conjured rather than a warrior that has came to do battle for it's general.
Flesh Removal
Casting cost: x
Card type: Mage attachment
Ability: Gain control of target ally with casting cost less than the cost paid for Flesh removal. This ally becomes undead instead of it's normal types.
Flavor: The best type of enemy is one that can be taken.
This would be a good way of having ally theft. Because who doesn't hate having there ally taken from them. It also allows the human Mage to have more use out of the Mage cards that enhance undead.
