Card Ideas. Week 2

Rate this Entry
Here comes the next lot of card ideas I've dreamt up. Again thank you all to those who gave feedback and visited the site. All your feedback are appreciated and welcome.

This week, I've decided to think of items for each class. I tried to think of something sort of very unusual and missing from the game currently. Unfortunately... my hunt for artwork hasn't quite worked as well this week.

So... here they are!

Priest item
Name: Well of Souls
Casting Cost: 5
Effect: Well of Souls gain 1 “soul point” for each ally killed. Sacrifice 1 resource. Hero gains health equal to the number of soul points on Well of Souls
Flavor: Others know it as Death’s Goblet.
Art: Something like this.

Hunter item
Name: Sapling
Casting Cost: 2
Effect: Pay 3 shadow energy. Remove 1 friendly ally friend from graveyard. Add 1 resource.
Flavor: Nature wastes nothing. The dead feeds the young.
Art: A green sapling growing amongst a field of dead bodies.

Warrior item
Name: Anvil of time
Casting Cost: 4
Effect: Pay 4 Shadow energy. Return most recent item from your graveyard to the top of your library.
Flavor: The Anvil breaks time itself.
Art: An Anvil in complete blackness like a void or blackhole with energy sparks shooting out from it.

Wulven item
Name: Moonstone
Casting Cost: 5
Effect: All Friendly allies regenerate 1 health at the beginning of your turn.
Flavor: As close to heaven on Earth as you can get.
Art: A Wulven with a white glowing stone in his paw looking upwards at a moonless night sky.

Elemental item
Name: Dimension Static
Casting Cost: 7
Effect: All enemy allies require +1 resource to cast.
Flavor: The fabrics between realities are harder than you think.
Art: A tear/ripple in midair with a claw grasping through like it’s trying to crawl through.

Mage item
Name: Shadow Shield
Casting Cost: 5
Effect: Damage to hero reduces shadow energy instead of health. If Hero has 0 shadow point, destroy shadow shield.
Flavor: Magic is a Mage’s Armor – quite literally.
Art: A Mage with his palms spread out like saying stop and an arrow hitting a magical barrier infront of the mage’s hand.

Rogue item
Name: Thieves’ Guild
Casting Cost: 3
Effect: Pay 3 shadow energy. Draw 2 cards. Discard 1 card.
Flavor: Word gets around.
Art: 3 Shady characters in a Tavern.

Great ideas. Maybe sapling should have you pay 4 shadow energy, but good ideas.

Here are 2 of my card suggestions:
    Card name: Cursed Mirror
    Card Type: Neutral Item
    Cost: 5
Effect: Ongoing: Attack power and life values of all your allies are switched, so for instance, Chimera becomes a 5/2 ally
Flavor text: Mirror, mirror, on the wall...
Art: Something similar to Change of Heart from Yu-Gi-Oh

    Card Name: Zen
    Card Type: Neutral Ability
    Cost: 7 or 8
Effect: Life values of you and your opponent become equal, so for instance, if you have 2 life at the time you cast this, your opponent will also have 2 life after this card is cast
Flavor text: Balance in all things.
Art: Zen symbol or Yin&Yang symbol

Thanks for visiting and your comment!
Yup. Not too fussed about shadow energy. 4 energy is fine by me. I guess hunters don't have much use for shadow energy unless they're using BDB.

I REALLY like your Cursed Mirror idea. Sort of like the "about face" card in MtG only this does it to EVERYONE. hahaha. I like it!

I think Zen might be a tad too powerful though. its quite easy to have 7 or 8 resources late in the game when you are likely about to die. So very easy to just cast that when you are on 2 health and finish the opponent off with almost anything.

Maybe it should "equalise" health instead? Ie. you have 10 health, opponent has 20. Then you both become 15 health. (ie. half way between the two heros)

Well, you could make Zen the only card in Shadow Era that costs 10 resources, sort of like the ultimate equalizer or use your suggestion instead.

Love the card suggestions. Mostly great ideas, some costs would need to be changed but great concepts.

Sapling would be the ultimate... the problem with this is all these cards using shadow energy, means you can only use one of them in your deck. So, only BDB, only gravediggers, only sapling, etc.

Gravediggers would work out because (i think) that one is for rogues also. To be honest, at any cost, sapling would be great since theres no other resource accelerant in the game.

@ Plague, the cursed mirror is a cool concept, but might be overpowered given first strike, since every creature could one hit kill any other creature. But im sure there are ways to make it work

@ Rayzie. Thanks for dropping by.

Yes... having cards like sapling and BDB and gravediggers will force you to choose what you really want and need. I guess sapling would be more for ally focused heros and can look at having more soul seekers or Guardian's Oaths rather than BDBs.

I tried to make a balanced resource accelerant. 2 to cast and 3/4 shadow energy ensures at least turn 3/4 until an extra resource (assuming you had a dead ally). 3 to 4 shadow energy also means you really can't get more +1 resource until another 3 to 4 turns.
