    Twenty-Third Round vs Amber

...Can people not count? If you have three damage on two board sources, why do anything but kill the target with 3 health that wins you the game?

I'm calling it here. Three straight runs against back-to-back wulvens has soured this deck for me.

Christ, I've played more wulven jackasses with this deck than every other deck I've ever played combined. What is really bad is that the idiots do 3 more things than necessary at the end to win the game. Two actions and the game is over, instead you want to play a card you won't need, perform an action that you don't need, and then attack with two allies instead of just the ONE GUY you needed to win the game with.

    Idiots.

Shutdown. Spelleater Bands in first hand. An anxious moment when a Portal appeared, but I made a choice to buff out a Guardian's Oath in order to protect my armor. It was the right one. Two opAllies appeared and were exterminated. Master Smith in hand to recall the Bands, and opHero Bazaar refilling my own hand nicely.

With Spelleater Bands out and the board in control, this deck shuts out mages like no one's business.

    Fourth round vs Gwenneth

Now this was a good game! All kinds of clever ingeniuity went into this game, and the patient mastery of this deck is what won it. That and Guardian's Oath. Suffice it to say that by the end the only margin of victory I possessed was a Shadow buffed Guardian's Oath would have won the game had the opHero attacked at any time. A clever ruse with a Priest of Light at the end - play, retreat, play to gain some health.

Armor was critical at all points. Crimson Vest was literally worth its weight in gold, and the first time I lost it and had a choice for Master Smith (weapon or armor) Crimson Vest was the first, last, and only choice to be made.

    An excellent game. First-rate.

Hate this bastard, I really do. His Shadow ability is just too goddamned powerful at 3 cost. I gave a better run at it than usual, managed to drop him down to 12 life in the end - but against this deck you need both a God Hand and the luck of the Devil to win.

Whoo! Very anxious moments until Spelleater Bands finally deigned to show the hell up. After that point the game was solidly in hand. Interesting game, as opHero concentrated on Shadow denial abilities. Locked out my ability for a solid portion of the game. Never saw any Armored Sandworms appear, which confused me.

    Third Round vs Elementalis

Cold shutdown. Trap on T3 stopped his allied run, T4 Soul Seeker ate his Sparks alive. Anxious moment when Oggy appeared, but with a SK on board, a Soul Seeker out, a shadow use, Rapid Fire, anda Guardian's Oath in hand he was taken out without the loss of SK.

opHero quit after a failed Mind Control on the SK, who died because of Guardian's Oath without damaging my hero.

Hand control against Elementalis is crucial. He dies without draw.

Good Ascendant. Wow. Never before seen that pop out. Made worse by my having sacked an extra copy of EA at the start for resources. Add yet another glorious got screwed with my weapons and that makes another loss.

Delicious targets for the win. Crimson Vest and EA combo was the nail for his coffin. Heals and heals, until he raged. To be fair, he had only 5 cards left to play, whereas I had 2 Shadow Knight in hand, another weapon, and 10 more cards to draw with.

Unbelieveable. Just Fking unbelieveable. A 70 card deck pulls out LLN, Brutal Minatour, Oggy, and God knows what else he had in his hands. Just unbelieveable. That disgusts me in so many ways.

Tenth Round vs Gravebone - 5-5

Edit: I've miscounted somewhere. This is the tenth round of play.

Not a mill deck, which I learned the first time he started dropping peeps. This was a hard match, with traps being necessary simply to slow him down. Lack of an early Soul Seeker hurt bad, as did the lack of any Spelleater Bands. Plasma Behemoth and hides made that lack painful. Controlled and lost control of the board several times.

It was a white-knuckle match, and fairly lost. I imagine (hope) that he was having just as hard a time with it as I was. He had to burn through nearly all his deck to finally get the win.

A wonderful match! Finally got to see how this deck would work with slowdown like Priest of Light and Armored Sandworm against it. The great thing about this deck is its ability to comfortably stall at 4cc for a long time. This stall, coupled with strategic waits, allowed for a victory to come through.

Fourth Round vs Victor Heartstriker - 3-1

    Third Round vs Nishaven

A good roll, but as a mage he can solo just as well as I can. Wised up quick about throwing down allies and settled for DD. Two Supernovas at the end finished it off.*

Fifth Round vs Nishaven - 3-2

    Fourth Round vs Lance

Ugh. If there were any time for my traps to appear, this one was it. Unfortunately, no traps. A lot of item kill, which cramped the style, and with EA removed and never reappearing, couldn't stop the opHero.

EA isn't crucial to the deck, but it is a necessity against opponents who can hide their peeps from direct attack.

Took a while to get this up because site was down for a bit.

    Round Two vs Darkclaw

Ah, here it is: the worst match-up this deck can face. Solo opHeros who can hide and heal will be the penultimate downfall for this deck. That is perfectly fine, though. Every deck has its mortal bane, the one that will beat it no matter how good a draw you get or how excellent you handle your choices. Sever Ties could have helped fight, so too with Shriek of Vengence...but only at the expense of either adding in cards or weakening the current build. If I was trying to make a 300+ deck...well, I wouldn't play Baduruu. Nor am I trying to make that deck. This is simply to give Baduruu a fighting chance, instead of relegating him to the ash heap of ignobility as a Tier 3 Hero.

We're aiming for Tier 2 at least!

Final Round of the night vs Victor

Ugh. This game was lost because I made a dumb, stupid, unforgivable mistake. I attacked a new Priest of Light with my Infernal Gargoyle, ON MY TURN. I SHOULD have gone for his hero, then let him either attack my Gargoyle or my hero until I had the attack to take him down. I didn't, this was all my fault, not the deck's.

Dumb, and fatal in this case. There was no way to recover my position after that one mistake.

    Third Match vs Eladwen

A close run. Early Bazaar meant no need to go searching for card draw, but it gave opHero enough to work with to drop me down. Poisoned hero didn't help. Returned Infernal Gargoyle plus the Supernova plus the need to use Shadowspawn to keep my board free of lockdowns meant my health dropped too low too fast. Soul Reaper would not have helped very much, just delayed the inevitable by a turn.

Close match, just couldn't get that one extra peep. Plus Fireball is a bitch...especially twice in a row.

    Spark for the win.

Bad draws for both decks, I think. I saw no card draw, they saw no peeps. Unfortunately, 19 allies in the deck gives me flexibility to play short and long term grinds.

Final match of the night was...to my great surprise: Baduruu!

...I was shocked to see him. Wary too. There's a lot of negativity about Baduruu, but he isn't someone you take lightly, especially once he gets to 5cc cards and has the ability to pull out a weapon for free. Doing that means he can drop a 5cc ally, and a powerful weapon in the same turn, where usually you would get the one or the other.

I don't think this was a tuned deck, though. Started with a 50+ deck against me, and he dropped after T6. Overconcentration on weapons might give a really bad hand, and with 50+ he might have gone too far into item specs.

Round Sixteen vs (Surprise) Baduruu - 11-5

    Fourth match vs Gravebone

Life Infusions for the win. You need a lot of practice and forethought in picking who to buff and when to do it to play this deck right. A poor choice will often lead to defeat, so practice, practice, practice! Especially vs mage decks. If you can get even two peeps out with health simply too high to one-shot, mage decks slow down. All their multi-kill card are 4cc to play, which is simply too much to pay and put out the necessary numbers of peeps to slow you down. Add in your Hero buff and Life Infusion and the opHero simply cannot generate enough kills to keep you from dominating the board.

    Third match vs Serena

Double ugh. 4 peeps throughout the game is no way to win. Plenty of meta for everything thrown my way...but without allies to exploit that opening...

It was a hard match and a good one, but it does show that even with 18 allies in the deck of 39 draws, you can still get a straight run of abilities for a long time.
